About the catalogue

Our Editorial Standard

We help lifters, meet volunteers and equipment buyers understand what they are looking at before comparing products or making rule-based decisions.

Identification before recommendation

Bambootowerjinx.com is an independent, informative guide to competitive powerlifting equipment. We organise the subject as an inspection catalogue: identify the component, understand its function and markings, then establish which source governs the relevant competition. The goal is not to declare one universal “competition standard,” because federations and events can set different requirements.

We explain terms such as calibrated plate, bar shaft, knurl and platform deck in plain language. General descriptions are separated from federation-specific requirements. Where a competition rule matters, we identify the federation and point readers to its current rulebook. A product label, colour convention or seller’s description is not treated as proof of certification, event approval or present condition.

Sources and updating

Our competition-specific references name the source rather than silently blending rule systems. The IPF Technical Rules Book is relevant to IPF events; USA Powerlifting (USAPL) maintains its own rules for USAPL events. We encourage readers to verify the active edition, official equipment information and meet instructions directly with the governing organisation. Rulebooks can change, and the organiser or appointed officials resolve questions for the event.

We aim to correct unclear descriptions and improve references as we review the material. Readers can send an equipment question, identify an ambiguous passage or suggest a source through the contact page. Please include the federation, event context, item type and a link or document reference where available. We cannot make an official ruling for a federation or certify a product through correspondence.

Who this is for

Lifters can use the catalogue to learn what distinguishes a familiar bar from a specialist model and why plate markings matter. Volunteers can use it to structure routine identification and flag uncertainty to the correct meet official. Buyers can use it to ask better questions about dimensions, tolerances, documentation and intended use. The shared method is to record what is observable, check the right authority and avoid turning an assumption into a specification.

Our illustrations are explanatory diagrams rather than product photographs. They are designed to clarify components and relationships; they do not depict a certified manufacturer model. Where we describe a general practice, we avoid presenting it as a mandatory rule unless the relevant rulebook supports that claim.
